Anyone ever feel like their breath needs a little help after they eat or drink? And sometimes after eating a tasty snack or drinking something, we may not have the best breath. Or perhaps you struggle to concentrate in class, or when doing homework at home. If you find yourself in this position, sugar free chewing gum may be your answer! Sanxi has produced tasty gum for over 50 years and we now want to bring all the benefits of gum chewing to you.
Did You Know People have been chewing gum a long time. Long ago, the Ancient Greeks and Mayans chewed tree resin. Tree resin is a sticky material that originates from trees, and it was helpful for them in making their breath fragrant and aiding in dental hygiene. By the 1800s, people began chewing gum made from chicle from sapodilla trees. This is the exact type of chicle Sanxi uses today to make our delicious gum! By the early 1900s, chewing gum was a treat enjoyed globally.
Since then, gum has evolved quite a bit. These days, there are countless flavors and types of gum out there. You’ll see fruity flavors such as watermelon and strawberry, or minty flavors such as peppermint and spearmint. This is because chewing gum is fun to do and you can get it in all kinds of yummy flavours!
Many myths surround chewing gum, but which ones are actually true? One of the perennial stories is that if you swallow gum it stays in your stomach for seven years. Thankfully, this is not true! Although gum isn't designed to be swallowed, if you swallow a piece, it will go through your body in the same way as any other food. Your body is trained to deal with it!
Chewing gum can relieve stress Gardener says: Did you know? Chewing gum activates the muscles in the jaw and face, helping you relax. Chewing can be soothing and comforting just like a mini gym exercise for your mouth! Some studies even suggest that chewing gum can boost your mood and reduce anxiety in times of stress.
Do you have a fascination with how gum is produced? At Sanxi, we begin by harvesting chicle from the sapodilla trees of Central America. This is an important process as the quality of the chicle impacts the flavor of the gum. After we collect the chicle, we clean it, melt it down. Then, we put flavors, colors and sweeteners in to make the gum taste good.
Then, the mixture is rolled out and cut into small, bite-sized pieces that you can easily chew. Then each piece is individually wrapped and packaged for you to purchase in stores. So to make great gum, you have to be really careful and pay attention to the detail so that every piece is the right texture, flavor and freshness.
